Friday 6-20-14
Ayla
woke up very early and so I figured I might as well wake up as well. I wanted
to try to make the custard out of the powder that Anne gave me, so that was how
I started my morning. It tasted great but as it turned out when I checked later
in the day, it did not get thicker. I guess I did not use enough of the powder.
Anyways, once I had gotten that in the freezer (which since I had unplugged it
to let the lines defrost, worked as a fridge). I took a quick shower since when
I made that attempt last night after being unable because of being too tired or
too busy, the water didn’t work. It was way too hot, but still the most
glorious feeling.
After
my shower it was time to prep for my testing today. I got my score sheet all
set up and figured out what I would do with the kids today, and then worked out
all the problems in my notebook. I like doing it this way because everything is
set and I don’t have to waste time in between trying to figure out the answers
or what to do next. It really does work out great. I kept working and checking
my watch. The time was going by too quickly and I was not writing fast enough.
Then I forgot that most of the pencils were out and I had to get those
sharpened. The kids and I left much later than normal, but we still got there
on time and got ready to start our testing.
It was
a crazy day and I had to yell at the kids many times for being too loud or not
listening or one of any number of other items. I took points away from one of
the teams because they just wouldn’t shut up when I had told them next team to
talk was going to lose points. There was no way they were going to win anyways,
they were so far behind. When we finished, I announced the winners and packed
up to go. I decided to go to lunch with the kids today. I was really hungry and
didn’t want to cook anything so why not eat ugali beans and greens. Ayla and
Jove were so excited, then when they found out that Teacher Logan was going to
go also since it was his last day they nearly pooped themselves. When we got to
the lunchroom they had saved us seats and made sure we had bowls of food
waiting for us. The ugali was cold and hard, but the beans and greens were good
as usual, so I just had more of those. I left the lunch room feeling nice and
full.
Back to
the school room I went with the kids. They played and I got to correct more of
Teacher Beatrice’s exams. That woman just… I don’t know. I just don’t think she
should teach at that school anymore. I heard from Samweli Stan that she beat
him (hit him) with a ruler because he tried to pray for Siri’s mother. I will
need to talk to her on Monday and see what she says about that. I collected the
exams she had finished and brought them to the house to begin making copies
during the kid’s playtime.
I got
up to the house and began my copying. I got through one of the 13 exams to copy
and the printer stops working. It was a brand new thing of ink, but it would
only print half of the page. I was so upset. I had no idea what to do. Ruth
talked to Isaac and Isaac set me up to go with Joan’s father to the hospital to
use his copier. I went through to organize and make sure everything was in
order and I realized that some of them didn’t make any sense. So I went back to
school and dealt with that. Afterward I had to go back to the house to let the
kids know I may be a while before I got to come back home. I set them up with a
movie and had Logan come with me to show me where the office was located.
When we
got there he showed us. Turns out that it was low on ink to begin with and it couldn’t
do double sided printing. If I got ten minutes alone with that machine I could
figure out how to get it to do what I wanted. They just have no idea. Since it
was out of ink, just about, I decided to not even try right then. He said he
would let me know on Monday if he was able to get more. We went back to the house.
After
some burning of trash, and getting soup going so we would have something to eat
for dinner, Ruth let me know that she had Frank look at the printer and turns
out that he fixed it. That man made me so happy. Not only that, but the
internet was working again also. The finished installing the new satellite dish
and it is faster than the other one was by so much. So much of the stress of
the last week had gone away. I have internet, the fridge seems to be working at
least a decent amount since I let the lines defrost for a day and half, there
are new people here and they seem very cool. The little bit that I have hung
out with them so far, I have very much enjoyed. I am trying to convince Logan
to stay in the village another 9 days and instead of leaving tomorrow, leave on
the first when we drive into Dar. I think I may be able to convince him. If he
stayed and having the Scott and Charlene here, I really think my last week and
a half will be so much better; People to talk to, and play with the kids with
me.
Logan,
Charlene, and Scott took all the kids on a walk into the village and I got to
stay at home and get some much needed internet chatting with my wonderful
husband. I so wish I could be home with him tomorrow (our 12 year anniversary)
but at least I will be able to talk to him on Skype in the morning before
Mikumi and in the evening after Mikumi. I love you so much Asa.
The
kids got back and Ayla was crying. She got scared that they went too far away
and they would be lost. She can be such a silly girl sometimes. They were
actually quite close, she just didn’t know the area and it scared her. I got
the kids some homemade bread and some chicken potato soup and let them know
that when I was done writing all the events up until this point, I would let
them watch a movie on the computer. So with that, I will pause my journal.
We ate
some pretty good chicken potato soup and watched Jurrasic Park. After a while,
Logan, Charlene, and Scott showed up. Everyone jumped on the internet so for a
while my computer (being older) wouldn’t even recognize that there was internet
available. I was hoping to be on since it had been a week, but I was able to
make myself do some cleaning and whatnot. The kids were having so much fun with
Scott. I think they have a new best friend. He was letting them hang all over
him and everything. I finally decided that it must be getting annoying and so I
got them into the bathtub. Ayla after washing “Mommy, how do I get into the
bedroom without everyone seeing me?” I love how she will just bring the
attention to herself like that. No one would have looked otherwise. Jove on the
other hand comes in dancing around naked as the day he was born. I read the
kids Katope (Ayla had been asking for that book) and then tucked them into bed.
I had to give them both some medicine, they are both getting sick. They both
fell asleep faster than I have ever seen them fall asleep before. Hopefully it
doesn’t get much worse.
Finally
able to play around on my Facebook and the picture I posted of the poop chairs
had gotten hijacked by one of Mamaliz’s old coworkers. She actually was
scolding me saying that Karma was going to get me. Some people just have no
clue. There is only so much inviting you can do when all the children want to
do is push, steal, and not listen. When it came to them beating on Jove that
was the point where I was done giving them extra chances, and poop is what I
got. I personally thought it was hilarious because of how horrible and
disgusting it was. But still, it should not have been done.

It's probably the only
cost effective way to retaliate against uninvited foreigners.
Ted shit in my floor
Liz Clibourne Mary, we are not uninvited foreigners.
This is the work of some jealous kids who were told to stay away from the house
because they were never taught how to act properly. Sarah tried very hard to
teach them how to stand in line and not push people or hit people but they
never tried, so she banned them from our backyard and this is how they
retaliated. Read the blogs before you call us uninvited foreigners. If you
haven't been there, or worked there, please don't offer uninvited and
uninformed opinions.
Just reading the post.
Haven't got time to research your cause.
To those children, you
are.
I'm ending this.
Liz Clibourne I'm happy to hear that. Don't do it
again. If you can only speak rom ignorance, best keep your mouth shut
Sarah Clibourne I can't help but notice that my picture
got hijacked with an argument. And those kids are just bad
Be careful, Karma

there. i dont interfere in your life, stay out of mine
Pretty sure you've
heard the kids now.
Sarah Clibourne I have done nothing wrong here Mary. I
tried to invite all of these kids in to play with the rest of the school kids
and my own two children. That is, until the day came that they pushed my five
year old son out of a tree, ripped his pants, then when h...See

Liz Clibourne Mary lets take this to a more private
venue, but let me first just say that those who havent lived here really should
not spout crap, If this was done bty some white kids on your block would you
have the same response? No, youd just be angry at some dumb kids. Get
someperspective,
I prefer not to take
your cause behind closed doors.
Would you like me to
retaliate with your history?
I believe denial is an
opportunity available to you.
Liz Clibourne We both know way too much about each
other, so just get offline. We can continue, but just stop bothering me. Your
comments are not welcome. One thing I hate is people who have never been here

Sarah Clibourne Hands4Africa/St.Mary's School, I wanted to say that
I do not appreciate what you are doing on my personal facebook page. I would
really like it if you stop making comments on my photo. If you do not like what
I said, then you do not have to look at my posts. I also do not in any way
appreciate you harrasing my mother on my personal facebook page. I have to say
it is low that I haven't seen from many people. I will again ask you to cease
the actions you are taking. Thanks.

Sarah Clibourne It's okay mom. Everyone has crazies in
